Deadshot, not Deathstroke, makes proper Injustice debut in new trailer

Gamescom has hit and with it comes new character reveals for Injustice 2, bringing the Suicide Squad one step closer to taking over everything.

That’s Harley, right?

The trailer reveals two more characters: Harley Quinn and Deadshot.

Quinn is a veteran character from the first game and much of the trailer focuses on her return. Harley still relies on a blend of acrobatics and handguns to damage foes, with a few explosives rounding out her attacks. However, Joker’s pet hyenas, Bud and Lou, prominently feature in the trailer, apparently joining both Harley’s standard combos and her supermove.

Deadshot, not Deathstroke

The character debuting in this trailer is Deadshot (Floyd Lawton), not Deathstroke (Slade Wilson).

Deadshot is the one who appeared in Suicide Squad, portrayed by Will Smith, while Deathstroke is predominantly a Teen Titan’s villain.

This seems simple enough, but the two characters have similar names and appearances. Both are master assassins that also happen to kind-of-sort-of serve as anti-heroes as much or more as they do villains. Both use guns, but Deadshot likes swords too.willsmithdeadshot

To confuse things further, Deathstroke was playable in the first Injustice, while Deadshot was playable only in the mobile version of the game.

Generally speaking, Deathstroke would kick Deadshot’s ass any day, as he’s taken magic juice that gives him superhuman reflexes, a healing factor, and the ability to use 90% of his brain. Deadshot, conversely, is just an exceptionally good sniper.

How big is the cast thus far?

The playable roster is still quite small but it packs a punch.

Returning alongside Harley are The Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, alongside the Man of Steel and Caped Crusader.

Deadshot–not Deathstroke, remember?–also comes with a rogue’s gallery to back him up, including Atrocitus, Gorilla Grodd, & Blue Beetle, with Supergirl another fun addition.

Which assassin joined the roster again?

Deadshot. The one Will Smith played in Suicide Squad.

Okay, got it.
