Birth and Bloodborne

Rich Stanton continues his streak of excellence with this fantastic feature where he draws parallels between his love for Bloodborne and his increasingly complicated life as a father. He writes about the symbolism the twisted world of Yharnam and wonderful community have to his personal life, and he says a loving goodbye to a game he holds so dear but simply doesn’t have time for anymore.
The nature and fate of Mergo’s birth is of enormous consequence in Bloodborne’s world, but the interpretation is up to the player. This is one of the great powder kegs in Miyazaki’s storytelling technique: introduce big themes, imply certain solutions, and then leave room for the imagination.
