With the World Cup of Hockey just a month away, being held in Toronto, EA has shown off more of its International Tournament mode that was first detailed back in April.
The new trailer shows off every one of the tournament’s eight teams, as EA promises players can “take to the ice on a world stage as your national team and heroes”.
Developers EA Canada, based in Burnaby, British Columbia, didn’t hesitate to show off their heroes, as Daniel Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks was prominently featured in the opening seconds of the trailer.
A World Cup mode has been requested by fans for years. After a stumble with last year’s NHL 16, EA seems to be reaching out to fans with this addition. EA also wants you to be excited about new goal celebrations, because apparently adding additional animations is worth celebrating. #fistpump
We’ll have extensive coverage of NHL 17 next month because we’re based in Canada and that’s just what we do.
