The practice of optimizing a website

SEO is the practice of optimizing a website or webpage to increase the quantity and quality of its traffic from a search engines organic results.
This can be done by integrating organic search engine marketing strategies into SEO (contact this SEO agency for more info). To understand how Google ranks sites and what their position in the search results is we must also understand its organic search algorithm.

How to Optimize Your Website for SEO and Conversions

How does the algorithm work? Google maintains a list of the top websites in the world. The system monitors how many times each site is searched and how many time visitors click on each link from one site to another. The more frequently a link is clicked, the more Google indicates that the site has a strong site. If Google sees a low number of clicks from a site then that means it is not ranking the site high enough.

On the other hand, a high number of clicks means the site has high authority, hence it is the search engine which sees the site as a strong authority, thus it ranks the site higher in the search results. Also, the site must have been indexed so Google knows that it contains all the search terms that exist. Each of these terms are seen as an entry point into the system and, in turn, increase Google’s opinion of the site. Once that ranking is established then the user can easily start their search for the site via its Google search bar.

So how can we apply SEO to our blog?

Marketing is about knowing what to share, and how to share it. The problem is, what will your audience be searching for in relation to your blog? If they are Google savvy and they understand what a keyword is, then search engine optimization isn’t going to help you all that much. Or are they Facebook savvy and they understand what a page is or what a status update is? Well guess what? SEO isn’t going to make you rank a page higher in the search results, but your article may go up in the organic results and your audience will be able to find it.
Google organic search page rankings are generally based on the number of linked to pages. So if you link to 5 other blog posts using the same information, then those 5 links are essentially weighted in the algorithm for the number of links that Google sees as having a strong authority and a credible anchor text. So if you have 500 people searching for your blog’s name, then 500 of those people are going to see your article and hence your article will rank higher than if you just had 500 of your own blogs (you know who you are, it’s me).

How to build an engaging blog?
Being a blogger is a full-time job. Some days I get up at 5:00am to start writing my blog articles. Some days I don’t get up until 7:00am or even later. So what do I do when it’s just so darn hard to write? Just like everything else in life, moderation is the key. Be consistent, don’t make a huge fuss, keep your blog clean and keep writing, that’s what gets you out of bed. You might not be the best writer ever, but that won’t stop your readers from enjoying your content.
