The CVAs are unique in the broad range of awards they provide, including awards recognizing performances, audio, animation, as well as mobile games, VR, and educational gaming products.

An International Award is also presented, based on fan choice, with nominees including XCOM 2, Uncharted 4, The Witness, Civ VI, Overwatch, and others. Fans are also able to vote on a Game of the Year like award separate from that chosen by the expert panel.
